Yoga • Qigong • Martial Arts • Meditation
The body is our first instrument.
Dorothy’s Mind & Body work brings together breath, alignment, awareness, flow, strength, softness, self-love, and healing.

Body as Instrument
When the body is tense, tired, or overwhelmed, everything else feels harder.
For years, Dorothy has taught people how to express themselves fully — through sound, movement, and mindfulness. Again and again, the same truth appears: the body is the foundation of expression.
Yoga, qigong, martial arts, meditation, and cello performance all share a common heartbeat: breath, alignment, awareness, and flow. When those principles become familiar in the body, creativity, confidence, calm, and connection become more available.

This is not just fitness. This is embodied artistry — a way of living where strength, creativity, and self-love support each other instead of competing.
Practices
Many paths into the same grounded strength.

Qigong
Qigong — or “chi gong,” as Dorothy sometimes spells it to help people pronounce it — is a spiritual, emotional, and physical practice. Dorothy loves it for stress relief, self-healing, self-love, energy flow, and calm.
Yoga & Meditation
Yoga and meditation bring grounding, self-love, breath, awareness, and space. Dorothy’s approach is gentle but powerful, accessible but meaningful.
Martial Arts
Martial arts has been a lifelong love. Dorothy has studied Japanese jujitsu and karate, Shaolin kung fu, American kenpo, capoeira, and Krav Maga. She teaches women’s self-defense for private events, including youth groups.
Light and Love
All that Dorothy offers has helped her, and she wants to share it with others.
Dorothy’s teaching blends strength and softness from martial arts, healing and energy flow from qigong, grounding and self-love from yoga, and mindfulness and creativity from music.
Her goal is simple: to help people reconnect with their bodies, release what is heavy, and rediscover their own strength, clarity, and compassion.

I’d never taken a yoga class before so I really appreciate the fact that Dorothy can teach the beginner as well as the expert at the same time. If something is too difficult or strains, she offers variations on the moves she teaches. She is always thoughtful about what she prepares and entertaining and engaging in class. Dorothy is always trying to leave her students with a little more than just yoga. She shares life lessons along the way which I really appreciate.

Yoga with Dorothy is a life-changing experience! So be prepared to learn to love your mind, your body, and God with every class. Through different meditations and chakras and much more, I’ve gained strength, humility, and grace. Dorothy teaches you to give gratitude to your body which is something I’ve always struggled with. This yoga class – though 1 hour a week – has affected almost every area of my life. I find myself wanting to be more mindful about how I eat, move and treat myself and others.
Dorothy makes you feel welcome and at ease no matter how much experience you have. She’s fun, chooses great background music, and knows how to speak to the soul. She’ll take the time to teach how to engage the correct muscles and postures to ensure safety and best results.
I could say so much more, but needless to say, I would recommend this class to anyone! I love it!
Love you, Dorothy!!
Hope, wisdom, and graceful aging

“I have grown in both knowledge and wisdom that will bless the rest of my life.”

During the past two years, have been blessed to take restorative yoga from Dorothy. With intention, wisdom, and humor, Dorothy teaches how to “take out the trash” from our bodies and then fill them with goodness and light.
The most important thing I’ve learned in this class is how to better utilize the Atonement of Jesus Christ in my life. The music and messages are uplifting and chosen with care. I have felt the Spirit and Dorothy shares scriptures, quotes, stories, and meditations for us to take in during our practice.
Dorothy prepares extensively, drawing on her years of experience in many modalities. At her feet, I have learned yoga, qi gong, tai chi, belly dancing, hula, martial arts, and ballet. Some learning has been passive, like when we giggle as we try handstands; but other times we feel ourselves healing, and tears flow.
I’ll never be the same after taking class from Dorothy, because I have grown in both knowledge and wisdom that will bless the rest of my life. I’m so grateful for Dorothy’s compassionate, open approach, and for the hope I now have to age gracefully and with strength and mobility. I think this is God’s work. Thank you Dorothy! Namaste.

I AM grateful for you and your vulnerability and efforts to curate this class for us.
I loved today’s warrior yoga poses that went with the song on gratitude and humility. The movements and even the names of the poses matched the feeling and the words of the song. It was meaningful to me. Fridays have become the day I rest from lifting heavy weights and focus on stretching, self-love, meditation and recovery. Thank you Dorothy.
With love,
Amy

More tools for anxiety

Thank you for today! I brought my friend with me because she has been struggling with major anxiety and panic attacks and I thought yoga could be beneficial for her. She was hesitant to come and you could tell she was carrying a heavy weight on her shoulders.
But when we left she had a smile on her face and said that she now has more “tools” in her bag. Everything you said today was very helpful and healing! So thank you! ❤️
A direct answer to prayer

Hey Dorothy! I just wanted to let you know that we have moved and which is why I am no longer attending. Thank you so much for the time I was able to join. You and the class you provided were a direct answer to my earnest and desperate prayers to Heavenly Father. Not exaggerating. I had spent a whole Saturday (and months prior to that Sunday) asking for help with my mental health. The very next Sunday is when they told us about your class. I heard the Spirit telling me that this was my answer. The time slot is literally the only time I could attend. While our move is exciting for our family, your class is irreplaceable. I’ve caught the yoga bug thank you so much for helping me. I loved your class and think you are so amazing….
Food, health, and joyful nourishment.
Recipe creation and substitution grew naturally from Dorothy’s love of nutrition and health. She studied advanced nutrition and performance enhancement in college, and she enjoys creating food that supports energy, recovery, gut health, and joy.
For Dorothy, baking can be another form of artistry and healing: a way to nourish the body with intention and care.
A tiny lesson in fearless trying
On a whim, Dorothy entered a Better Homes and Gardens recipe contest with a reduced-fat, whole-grain chocolate blueberry cake — and won the grand prize. She loves the reminder: you never know unless you try.
Storms rage about me. I calm my heart and send out ribbons of peace.
C.L.
